Organizations Ottawa University issued the following announcement on Nov. 6
The third annual OUAZ Baseball Burgundy/Black Fall World Series will be played Wednesday through Friday on the Kansas City Royals Field No. 6 at the Surprise Recreation Campus. First pitch each day is at 6 p.m. and the first two days will feature a nine-inning game with game three being a seven-inning contest.
The teams were drafted on Sunday with Travis Turner (Burgundy) and Taylor Campos (Black) serving as the team captains. When asked about what they were looking for when picking their teams, Tuner had this to say, "Launch Angle, WAR, and Spin Rate are all new age measurements that Major League Baseball organizations have, in recent years, utilized to build super teams that are more efficient at winning ball games than ever. The OUAZ Burgundy team adopted their own new age tactic in striving to win this year's Fall World Series. Upon Draft Day, picks were taken in order of who has swiped their meal card the most amount of times in OUAZ's new cafeteria. We only want the hungriest individuals to make up this team."
In counter to that strategy, Campos made this statement on the series, "No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference."
The captains announced that Robert Jesionowski will start game one for the Burgundy team and Anthony Quattrocchi will start for the Black team.
Admission to the Fall World Series is free.
